RULES
ELIGIBILITY: Only high school members of FBLA are eligible. Students must be on record in the FBLA-PBL National Center as having paid dues by March 1st of the current school year. All membership questions will be handled by FBLA. Schools may participate in the FBLA VBC in the fall or spring during the school year.
TEAM MEMBERSHIP: Entries may be created by an individual member or by a team, not to exceed three (3) members. In the event of a team entry, no more than one (1) member may have competed in this event at a previous National Leadership Conference. A Team Member CANNOT be on more than one team at a time. No additional team members may be added once a team has registered. Members are unable to participate in any other event if they have qualified and plan on participating in the final round at Nationals. All rankings and prizes are based on the team and not the individual.
If a Team Member drops off a Team or a Team is to be dissolved, an email from the Team's FBLA Adviser acknowledging the removal must be sent to VBCCentral@KnowledgeMatters.com stating the Team Code and the Team Member(s) to be removed. An acknowledgment from Knowledge Matters confirming the Team Member update will be sent back to the Team's FBLA Adviser. If this acknowledgment is not received, it will be the Team's responsibility to resubmit the request via the Team's Adviser. Once the acknowledgment is received, the individual is free to register a new team. All maintenance and compliance monitoring of the Teams will be the responsibility of the Team's FBLA Adviser. FBLA chapters may have as many teams as it can support according to the Team Membership rules. Team names must generally adhere to FBLA's code of ethics. Team names deemed inappropriate according to National FBLA will have their team name changed to the name of their local chapter without notice. National FBLA will have the ultimate authority to resolve Team Membership and name disputes.
VBC FILE SHARING: Absolutely no VBC file may be shared among competitors. Files submitted must be a team’s own work. Any team that is found sharing a file will be removed from the rankings.
FILE SUBMISSION: To protect the integrity of this competition, students will be asked to submit the Challenge files they uploaded to be scored. Knowledge Matters will request that a Challenge file be submitted for evaluation. Teams should save a copy of the file that contains their highest score in case this request is made. Sending up an illegitimate score using either the standard upload method or the alternate upload method without having the file to back it up is considered a violation of competition rules and may result in disciplinary action.
DRESS CODE: If students qualify and decide to compete at the NLC, they must wear their FBLA business professional attire during their competition sessions.
QUALIFIER RULES: The top eight nationally ranked teams from each Challenge will qualify to compete at the NLC. A maximum of one team, per state, per Challenge is eligible to qualify for the NLC. Teams that qualify for nationals during Challenge one may participate, but will not be ranked in Challenge two.
SCORES: A team’s actual numeric score will not be posted on the ranking’s page. Bars symbolizing a team’s score will be posted instead. Numeric amounts will not be released upon request during the Challenge periods.
In the event of a tie, the team with the earliest file submission will rank higher, so it is important to get your files ranked early in the Challenge.
