Hints H&R Block Dollars & Sense National Challenge 2
- When you open the competition file, your person lives in an apartment and has $5,000 in cash. You don't have any banking or credit card accounts. Your goal is to increase your person's net worth as much as possible while managing his life for three simulated years.
- If you apply for a job or decide to take a class, you are able to choose your mode of transportation to get to work or class. Your current mode of transportation is set to walking. You may change this to taking the bus or to using a car if you click on Schedule and then Change Travel Mode. If you decide to use a car, you will have to buy or lease a car. Consult your schedule to see how long your commute will take.
- If you decide to take the bus, don't forget to buy bus tokens!
- Some jobs require work experience and/or education. You may enroll in classes to try to get the necessary education to apply for some of those jobs. You have diplomas already for the Intro to Data Entry and IT Management courses.
- When you apply for a job, use "Jane Doe" as your person's name.
- Your apartment is not furnished. If you shop for certain goods, you may be able to decrease the time you have to spend on certain activities in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
- Don't forget to pay your bills and taxes! Your bills will appear on your desk in your person's apartment at the end of each month. You do have access to Online Banking which can be very useful within the simulation.
- Don't forget to set up your daily schedule. Review the Tutorial if you need help doing this.
- Don't forget that you may upload as many scores as you'd like during the competition period. We'll always rank you based on your best score. Good luck!
