The H&R Block Dollars and Sense National Challenge encourages DECA members to test their financial literacy skills individually or as a team. This competition is a free event for dues paying DECA members. Participating members utilize a competition version of the Virtual Business - Personal Finance 2.0 classroom simulation, which is currently being used in over 5,000 classrooms across the United States and Canada.
Team registration for this event will begin on Tuesday, October 9, 2012. There will be two rounds (Challenges) held via the Internet during the school year. The first challenge is October 22, 2012, 10:00 a.m. EST - November 16, 2012, 5:00 p.m. EST and the second challenge is January 7, 2013, 10:00 a.m. EST - February 1, 2013, 5:00 p.m. EST.
DECA high school members will be able to participate in all four tracks of this event (VBC Retailing, VBC Sports, VBC Restaurant and H&R Block Dollars & Sense). Two of the tracks will utilize online versions of our simulations (VBC Restaurant and H&R Block Dollars & Sense) and two of the tracks will utilize installable versions of our simulations (VBC Retailing & VBC Sports). In all cases, DECA members will participate through utilization of an online account. Students who are currently using, or who have previously used one of our online simulations (Restaurant or Personal Finance) may use their existing accounts to participate. Students who have not used our online simulations will be given the opportunity to create a new account free of charge.
