Hints for Virtual Business Retailing Challenge 1
- When you open the Challenge 1 file, your purchasing system isn’t set to purchase any inventory. You will want to adjust this quickly so that your customers can purchase goods from your store.
- You may set your purchasing universally or individually. To set purchases individually, you may use the "More" button found on the purchasing screen.
- When purchasing, keep in mind you have multiple demographics within your city to satisfy. The Market Research action has been made available so that you can survey the population to aid you in your decision making.
- Currently you are not doing any billboard advertising. Remember to evaluate your estimated reach before choosing any billboard locations.
- If you choose to use radio as a form of advertising, remember that the radio stations target specific demographics. Do some market research to determine which demographic listens to which station.
- You have the ability to purchase additional cash registers for your store. By default, you start off with one. Watch the number of cashiers you have staffed during the different shifts to see how many cash registers would be beneficial for your store.
- You also have the ability to purchase security cameras for your store in order to help prevent shoplifting. You may click on the security camera mounts within the Store view if you’d like to install the cameras.
- The Physical Inventory option helps to determine if goods are being shoplifted from your store and it helps to maintain the accuracy of your purchasing system.
- Make sure you run through the current Challenge file over and over again, trying different strategies each time in order to try to improve upon your score (cumulative profit).
